Get Your Jersey Shore Home Ready For Fall

FallHome ownership can be rewarding, but it also comes with responsibility.  As we welcome in the cooler weather of fall it is time to get your home along the shore ready.  Fall is the perfect time to make home improvements you have been putting off before winter hits. Here are a few things you should be doing around your home this fall.

    • Fall is the perfect time to aerate your lawn. This helps your lawns roots to grow deep and stronger for a healthy looking lawn in the spring.
    • Before it’s time to turn the heat on have your heating system inspected and serviced by a professional. This is especially important if you have a home warranty as the home warranty company will require service records if anything fails or needs repair.
    • Inspect your windows and doors for any gaps or cracks around them that may allow air in or to escape. Replace weather stripping or caulk if necessary.
    • Inspect your roof for any missing or loose shingles. If any are damaged make replacements.
    • Turn off outdoor water and store your hoses till spring. Store your lawn mower as well.
    • Clean and remove any debris for your gutters and downspouts. All drainage areas should be cleared of debris and leaves as well.
    • Replace the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. If your home doesn’t have carbon monoxide detectors, install them.
    • If the exterior of your home could use a fresh coat of paint this is the time to do. Cooler temperatures and lower humidity make it the prime season for painting.
    • If your home has a wood-burning fireplace have it cleaned and inspected prior to needing it in the cooler months ahead.
    • Clean and install storm doors and windows.

Fall is a great time along the shore; don’t miss out on the many fall events planned around the area.
