Spring is here and the real estate market along the shore is heating up. If you are planning on selling your home this year there are things you can start doing now to prepare your home to go on the market. Along with your spring cleaning, set aside some time to do some work and use these tips to get your home ready to hit the housing market.
1.Deep Clean and Declutter
It may seem like a no-brainer, but a good deep cleaning and decluttering is needed before putting your home up for sale. If you’re not sure where to start, begin by getting rid of and donating any items that are no longer wanted or necessary. Once your home is free of clutter and items you no longer need, it’s time to move on to do some deep cleaning. While cleaning, focus on the kitchen and bathrooms, and don’t forget to clean both the inside and outside of your windows. Potential homebuyers will be looking inside your cabinets and closets so now is the time to organize them as well.
If there are any repairs that are needed in the home, do them now before it goes on the market. This means fixing those leaking faucets and replacing that damaged screen on your windows. It is also a good idea to repaint the walls in your home a neutral color.
Your home only gets one chance to make a good first impression and that means you want good curb appeal. If the outside of your home is not appealing, buyers will not want to view the inside. Trim up your bushes and remove any downed branches from your yard. Inspect your driveway and sidewalk for any cracks in the concrete and repair them. If repairing the concrete is not in your budget, at least make sure there are no weeds growing between the cracks. Add some color by setting out some fresh potted annuals. A new welcome doormat can freshen up your home’s doorstep.
With just a little bit of time and effort on your part, your home can be welcoming to potential home buyers on both the outside and inside.
